Noam Chomsky
is a tireless writer and lecturer working against the mainstream. He joined
the faculty of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1955 and in
1957 Syntactic Structures was published which radically challenged accepted
views on language. In 1976 Chomsky
was appointed Institute Professor in the Department of Linguistics
and Philosophy. He has written and lectured on a variety of topics ranging
from linguistics, philosophy, the media, and US foreign policy, especially
towards Central and South America and the Middle East.
