Independent Radical Publishing
Our annual sale on books by Black authors returns for Black History Month 2023!
Many would agree that since 2020 and the rise of Black Lives Matter, little has changed in the racist halls of power across the US and indeed the world. Despite demands to defund the police, President Biden increased budgets in 2022, and, unsurprisingly, killings by police reached a record high. Recently, Govenor of Florida Ron DeSantis demanded the removal of sections of Black history from the A.P. curriculum, including the names of many Black writers associated with critical race theory, the queer experience and Black feminism.
This is why we must keep reading Black writers. We must honor the legacy of Black resistance in the United States and across the world.
