As the #MeToo movement has highlighted, sexual violence is endemic. But there are still a number of myths about it that need to be challenged.

1. That rape is something that happens between strangers in a dark alley
2. That women often ‘cry rape’, and most accusations are false
3. That sexual violence only affects women, and all women are equally likely to be affected by it
