Simon Pirani, author of Burning Up: A Global History of Fossil Fuel Consumption (2018), gave a seminar on the book’s themes at Manchester’s Tyndall Centre in 2018.
Titled ‘How Did it Come To This?’, Pirani’s lecture focuses on unsustainable global fossil fuel use in a historical perspective, and questions the likelihood of a major shift away from dependence on fossil fuels in the near future.
