On the 25 April 1974, a coup overthrew Estado Novo’s dictatorship in Portugal. People flooded the streets of Lisbon, placing red carnations in the barrels of guns in what became know as The Carnation Revolution – the uprising of Portugal’s long opressed working classes.
The shockwave went round the world triggering revolts in Portugal’s African colonies.
