Online and in person
What were your formative experiences?
What fires you up?
What activated and animated your interests in the creative stuff you currently do?
What choke points are there in your locality?
Everyone present will have the opportunity to venture examples and ideas, or sit in the background and listen – no pressure!
gobscure will be joined by Jake Alimahomed-Wilson and Immanuel Ness, editors of ‘Choke Points’, a book that has inspired gobscure’s Practice Makes Practice Residency over the last few months.
Education failed gobscure; they learnt more, historically and politically, through music. Jake Alimahomed-Wilson talks about how they came to politics through music. The book, published with Pluto Press, points towards the fact that politics isn’t academic-activism, it is real life kind of stuff, and gobscure likes to tip over academic-activism to disrupt systems. This event will adopt a DIY approach, using music to inspire and antagonise.
This session will be relaxed. You can attend for the duration or come and go as you please. There will be breaks. There will be art on show – on the walls and as downloads too. There will be playlists and short pieces of writing from gobscure’s residency.
These are the stories of the workers who undermine capitalism at its weakest point.
