As part of the 'What we need to do next' event series
Many discussions on violence against women obscure the fundamental violence perpetrated by capitalism and the state. It also masks the social causes of the interpersonal violence that affects women, with Ideas of ‘protecting’ women wrapped in punitive ‘feminist’ language – to further a carceral state.
Feminists should no longer be accomplices of capitalism, racism, colonialism and imperialism: it is time to fight the system that created the boss, built the prisons and polices women’s bodies.
In this event, the speakers will discuss:
What causes gendered violence?
What is carceral feminism and how do we move away from it?
What does a truly radical, anti-imperialist, decolonial feminism look like?
