Social Reproduction Theory and the Socialist Horizon
Work, Power and Political Strategy
Wed, 17 Jun 2020, 19:00 - 20.30 BST
A virtual discussion with Aaron Jaffe and Sara Farris
Join authors Aaron Jaffe and Sara Farris to discuss Jaffe’s new book Social Reproduction Theory and the Socialist Horizon (Pluto, November 2020).
From the International Women’s Strike to the Teachers’ Strikes centred on wage equality for life-making workers, to contemporary anti-racism uprising foregrounding the right to live for racialized populations already hard hit by the pandemic and systemic racism, Social Reproduction Theory is being proven by history to be a powerful theoretical tool to understand contemporary struggles.
The speakers will also discuss SRT’s insights and how it can have vital strategic implications for anti-capitalists, anti-racists, LGBT activists, disability activists and feminists.
Sara Farris is senior lecturer in Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London. She is the author of several books, including In the Name of Women’s Rights. The Rise of Femonationalism (2017).
