'DO WE ALL NEED THERAPY?': Join author of 'Radical Intimacy', Sophie K Rosa, and poet Charly Cox, for this discussion about the rise in mental health online on social media.
Is ‘wellness’ distracting us from the real issues? With rising rates of poverty, mental illness and the need for investment in better services, research and policymaking, Radical Intimacy author, Sophie K Rosa, and poet, Charly Cox, consider the question: how helpful is the mental health movement to people living with mental illness?
Sophie K Rosa is a writer and freelance journalist. She has written for Novara Media, Guardian, Buzzfeed, VICE, Al Jazeera, Aeon and CNN. In 2018, she was openDemocracy‘s feminist investigative journalism fellow, producing a series of articles tracking the backlash against women’s and LGBTQIA+ rights.
Charly Cox is a poet, writer and mental health activist. She serves as an ambassador of mental health research charity, MQ Foundation.
This panel is part of Cheltenham Literary Festival’s VOICEBOX programme: a vibrant home to free, pop-up content that explores everything from spoken word, sex and wellbeing to mental health, sustainability, politics and social justice.
