Presenting two new textile artworks in the current exhibition Habit, Ability! by the artists Laura Harrington and Katie Pollard.
Programme Director Dawn Bothwell will be in conversation with Laura Harrington, discussing her ‘A Yarn’, its questioning of textile supply chains and the far-reaching impacts of water pollution by industrial textiles processes.
‘A Yarn’ is a project by Laura Harrington in collaboration with Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistolleto in Biella at the foothills of the Italian alps. Made together with 3 other artists (Silvia Giovarnardi, Emmanuele Maurullo and Juan Manuel Gomez), the aim of the project was to bring artistic research to question the different processes constituting the textile production supply chains.
Katy Pollard is an artist and studio holder at NewBridge she is currently cultivating a dye – garden at NewBridge using our balcony spaces. She uses these dyes in her own textile artworks. We will exhibit one of her works adding it to the Habit, Ability! exhibition – a new textile seasonal wall-hanging made with natural dyes, and she will participate in an event with the following.
