Covid-19 has exposed the limits of the country’s approach to public health.
Despite this, the left remain struck in a perennial rear-guard action, focused on ‘saving the NHS’ from the spectre of the sell-off. It amounts to no more than a defence of the traditional status quo.
In new book The Five Health Frontiers, Christopher Thomas argues the left must urgently change their approach – and emerge from Covid-19 on the offensive, with a bold new vision for health and care after the pandemic.
This event will invite exciting voices, from health and politics, to reflect on how the Labour Party approaches health in the next few years, and what campaign strategy should look like in light of the pandemic.
Panel:
Dr Martin Edobor (Chair) – Chair of the Fabian Society
Christopher Thomas – Author of the Five Health Frontiers; health writer, researcher and commentator
Alex Norris MP – Shadow Minister for Levelling-Up
Dr Sonia Adesara – medical doctor and activist
