Matt Myers will be in conversation with Novara Media's Ash Sarkar
Matt Myers will be joined in conversation with Novara Media editor Ash Sarkar and other participants in the Student protests of 2010 to discuss the new book Student Revolt. Over the past few years the rules of British politics have changed dramatically, though the old political establishment has yet to realise how or why. As austerity-economics continues to dominate the lives of millions, a generational cleavage has ripped apart the political consensus. The consensus on university tuition fees has collapsed and millions of young people have become enthused by Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party. Meanwhile the Conservative Party desperately searches for a way to win back the youth vote. Matt Myers’s ‘Student Revolt: Voices of the Austerity Generation’, published by Pluto Press, argues that the 2010 student movement is where this transformative process began. Since 2010, Student Revolt argues, the spectre of politicised youth has hung over British politics. The old political class ignored its warnings and are now living with the consequences.
At the launch the author, Matt Myers, will be joined in conversation with Novara Media editor Ash Sarkar and other 2010 participants to discuss the book. There will be plenty of time for an interactive discussion on all the themes raised by ‘Student Revolt’.
Doors open at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start. Student Revolt will be available to purchase on the night for the discounted price of £10 (£12.99 RRP) and both cash and card payments are accepted.
