In this video, Dan Glass, author of Queer Footprints: A Guide to Uncovering London’s Fierce History, meets up with Maz Islam from the Rainbow Tree to take the viewer on a guided tour of Whitechapel.
From Shoreditch High Street station, they take in some of the area’s most significant landmarks – particularly for the Bangladeshi LGBTQIA+, community – such as the Glasshouse, Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club and Ali Altab Park.
Find out more about Whitechapel’s incredible LGBT history in Queer Footprints, which is out now from Pluto Press.
Special thanks to Maz Islam.
