In Dread Poetry and Freedom; Linton Kwesi Johnson and the Unfinished Revolution ​Austin delves into themes of ‘poetry, political consciousness and social transformation’ through the lens of the Jamaican-British poet’s own literary activism.

Edited by Austin, Moving Against the System:The 1968 Congress of Black Writers and the Making of Global Consciousness is a collection of ‘black radical thought’ emanating from Montreal’s historic meeting of activist, influential Black voices including Stokely Carmichael, C.L.R. Jamnes, Rocky Jones, Alvin Poussaint and Walter Rodney.
